The first step to joining the study is to find out if you are eligible. To do that, we need you to take a short (about 5 minutes) screening survey. It has some basic questions about you and your smoking. First, we want to give you a little bit of information about DecideACT:

DecideACT to test the efficacy of a smoking cessation program for Hispanic adults

You are invited to participate in a research study. The purpose of this study is to see which smoking cessation treatments are the most useful to help Hispanic adults quit smoking. The DecideACT study is being conducted by the Fred Hutch Cancer Center.
This study is looking for Hispanic adults who smoke cigarettes and want to quit. Participants will be asked to use the DecideACT smartphone application. The goal of this study is to learn which smoking cessation treatments are the most useful to help Hispanic adults quit smoking. The study will also involve several short surveys at the start of the study and again at 4 weeks and 3, 6, and 12 months later. It costs nothing to join this study. The smoking cessation treatment app, and if assigned, Nicotine Replacement Therapy (nicotine patches, nicotine gum and/or lozenges), will be provided at no cost to you. You will receive up to $110 for completing one short 2-question survey and three online follow up surveys ($5 for completing the 2-question survey, $25 for completing each online survey, plus an additional $10 bonus for each online survey completed within 24 hours of receiving it), and up to $215 if you are selected to complete the four surveys and three follow up saliva tests to detect cigarette smoking ($5 for completing the text message survey, $25 for completing each online survey, plus the additional $10 bonus per online survey completed within 24 hours, and plus $35 for completing each saliva test to detect smoking, for each of the three survey times).
To see if you are eligible for this study, you will first need to fill out a screening survey. This survey asks some basic questions about your smoking history, age, race, place of residence, and gender. Your answers to the screening survey questions will be entered in this secured website and kept confidential by our study staff.

You do not have to be in this study. You are free to say yes or no, or to drop out after joining. There is no penalty or loss of benefits if you say no.
